Watercolor two butterflies demo tutorial

Hello my friends, I hope you are excited about painting this painting with me. I have given a lot of thoughts into the coloration of these two butterflies and I ended up quite liking them. Come paint along with me, I think you will have some fun with this. I added a border to the final painting, but you can stop at any point, one butterfly or two. It looked very good in a frame too. Like it comes out of an old book plate. I have been down to the byu library, as you all know, for many years. This is one of the thing that I really enjoyed doing. I love to look at biology books, with birds and butterfly and mushroom. Sometimes I will look at some animals books too. And flowers etc. I have wanted to do this for a long time. And as I was preparing, I realized that if I just draw the line drawing with a standard butterfly shape, then you can use it for all kinds of butterflies. I hope it makes sense and that maybe when you want to in the future do more butterflies, you can certainly come here to fetch the image. For our next painting, it will be two butterflies with some flowers in the background, I still am at the stage of practicing so it will be very fun again. I am very excited about doing these butterflies painting. Their color are so vibrant and will not be too hard to do.

Ok lets talk about color, the first smaller butterfly, cadm yellow light, sap green, sepia. The second one is quin burnt orange plus a little dab of red, then cadm yellow med. Some burnt umber and some green on the body of the butterfly. The border is only burnt umber maybe a little bit of black.

I hope you guys are having a very good summer. Tomorrow my little Violet is coming back. She has been at bear lake with her other grandparents, I am so glad to see them again. Which means I will be busy next week. But I will have plenty of time to get the second butterfly painting done soon enough. The weather is super hot here in utah, I have been hiding indoor but probably should go outside to water the flowers. Sunflowers are everywhere now, they are very hardy, my mind will be thinking about them. Hope some inspirations come. Thank you, love you all, thank you for your friendship, love, Kathy
